FAQ

How do you keep your prices competitive?

We are a small company with a limited budget for advertising. We rely predominantly on word of mouth, and if you've had a good experience buying from us, we'd love it if you referred Advent Games to someone you know. No matter how small, every post, every like, every tweet is another potential customer, and another potential for us to grow the business and bring you more (and cheaper!) games. Why not head over to the Facebook Page and leave a review? 


Do I have to register in order to buy from the store?

You have two options: you may register as a member which allows you to login to monitor your order, or you may puchase items as a guest without registration. Please ensure all delivery and email information is entered correctly.


Can I order items not in the store?

Yes, you can! At Advent Games we source our board games from all over the world.  Please contact us at dean@adventgames.com.au and we shall try our best to obtain the product for you at a competitive price. Please refer to our special order policy


Do you ship to my country?

At present our store is set up for shipping to Australia only. However, if you would like us to ship to an overseas address, please contact us at dean@adventgames.com.au. On a case by case basis, we may provide a quote of your freight charges and you may decide if you want to proceed with the order


Bank transfer - How does it work?

You will be provided with our bank details at checkout. Please transfer the funds stated into this account and as soon as we have confirmation of it arriving, we will ship out your order! (Please allow approximately 2-3 working days for funds to transfer)


How do I know the status of my order?

You may check the status of your order when you log in to your account. You can also retrieve messages received from Advent Games at your account or by email if you have supplied your details. Your order will be listed as either:

New Order
In Progress
Ready to Ship
Shipped!
 

Why is my Order Status blank?

If your order is blank, it is likely because it includes Pre-Order items. We move these items into a special category which does not reflect on the customer side of your account. Your order is definitely not forgotten! It is just awaiting those pre-orders.


How much is shipping?

Advent Games charges Flat Rate shipping with Australia Post eParcel. Rates are:

Sydney Metro / Gosford / Wollongong:   $10
Rest of Australia:      $15
Orders over $300:    FREE!

When will I receive my purchased items?

You will receive tracking information upon the dispatch of your order and this contains an estimated delivery date from AusPost. Please allow 1-3 working days from the time of your order for dispatch. (This allows us to either collect any necessary stock from purchase or receive a restock of required items)


Will I be able to track the shipped items?

You will receive the tracking number of your parcel when an item is shipped, emailed to the address provided in your customer info. You will be able to monitor the progress of the shipment with AusPost


What should I do when I receive a damaged parcel?

If the parcel is damaged when you receive it, please notify the delivery personnel at the time of delivery and add the word "damaged" next to your signature.  Please do take photographs of parcels and inform Advent Games. We advise you to refuse the parcel and inform Advent Games ASAP!

Additionally, in the case of delivery by Australia Post - please return the box to the post office unopened and submit a claim form.  

Notify Advent Games immediately.  Any photos or images of the damaged product will be helpful for our claims process.


How can I receive notifications of the latest products and special offers

Sign up for our newsletter or check out our https://www.facebook.com/adventgamesau which will keep you up to date of our latest offerings as well as upcoming releases. Our aim is to bring the games to your table as soon as we can.
 

How can I provide feedback about the website and your services?

Which edition is the game?

Unless otherwise stated, all games are English editions. Please read the product info carefully before purchase.
 

Why are board games prices so expensive in Australia?

Apart from US and Germany, most countries in the world do not mass-produce board games, nor own the publishing rights to popular intellectual properties, nor have the mass of board game consumers which could leverage container loads of games to reduce freight expenses.

As a comparison, the freight component of video games per $ is far less than board games which have much bigger, and heavier, boxes. Shipping across national boundaries is full of logistical challenges. Airfreight is not cost inefficient, yet shipping by slow container boat would see games arriving late and with decreased interest. 

We hope to soon see a thriving board-game producing community here in Australia, as well as better and cheaper shipping from China, US and Europe. All of these will serve to bring games to you quicker and cheaper.  :)


Can I pick up my order?

Yes you can! We have regularly scheduled pickups on a Tuesday night at the Northside Gamers Group in Chatswood. If you are unable to make this time but would still like a pickup option, please contact dean@adventgames.com.au and we may be able to arrange a pickup in the Artarmon area during the day. Please refer to the Pick Up Locations page for more information.


Can I add items to an unshipped order?

If you have a current order with shipping and wish to add more items, simply select Local Pickup at the checkout for your new order, and note in the comments that you'd like them combined. And if it takes you over the $300 free shipping mark, we'll refund your shipping cost!
